We first met Brad Bishop and his family in 1973 when I was sent to Gaborone, Botswana on temporary duty.
While assigned to the Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa, I was sent to Gaborone to provide
coverage during the Communicator's absence for leave. In 1973, Gaborone city reminded us of a small shopping mall and we actually drove past the "mall" looking for the city. (Here are some pictures of Gaborone as it looked then).
Brad Bishop was the Deputy Chief of Mission for the Embassy and was my immediate supervisor and consequently I
had numerous daily contacts with him. Throughout my time at the Embassy, he was always available for advice as to a decision or course of action to be taken. His pleasant and easy going manner made him one of the better supervisors that I worked for.
We recall meeting Brad's family and Claire remembers a very enjoyable day shopping with his wife, Annette and mother, Lobelia.
Even with our limited time with Brad Bishop and his family, it is still hard for us to comprehend how he could perform such a terrible crime against his family for which he is accused.
