The village green which is now landscaped, with neatly cut grass and shrubs and a pond in the centre was once just a rough green patch surrounded by rows of lime trees. The trees were cut down in the 1960's when the County Council took over the maintenance of the green.

There are two crosses erected in the green. One is in commemoration of the 1798 rising and the other is a 16th century cross.
